Call for Expressions of Interest – Director Appointment to Drs4Drs Board

Doctors Health Services Pty Ltd (Drs4Drs) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian Medical Association (AMA), established to support the mental health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students across Australia. Governed by a skills-based Board, the organisation is seeking to appoint a new Director to contribute to its governance and strategic direction.

On behalf of the Board Chair, Dr Iain Dunlop, we are now inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals who are passionate about supporting the medical profession through strong and informed governance.

Role Description

We are seeking a director with operational expertise and experience in program management, policy development, and health service delivery, particularly in the areas of mental and physical health or doctors' health. The appointee will play a key role in providing oversight and strategic integration across Drs4Drs' national health initiatives.

Key Information:

• The appointment is remunerated and will be for a four year term.  
• The Board meets approximately four times per year, either face-to-face or virtually.
• Directors must be eligible for registration with the Australian Government’s Director Identification Number (DIN) system.

Support Provided:

• Director induction and education will be provided to the successful candidate.
• Board members are supported by a professional secretariat and experienced governance advisors.

Appointment process:

Interested applicants are invited to submit a current CV and cover letter (1-2 pages) outlining their interest in the role and relevant experience in health service delivery, governance and program leadership. Any prior experience as a director, or other leadership roles should be included. 

EOIs will be reviewed by a selection panel comprising representatives from the Drs4Drs Board, and individuals with relevant governance expertise. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview, which will be conducted via video conference. The preferred candidate will be recommended to the AMA Nominations Committee, with final endorsement by the Board of AMA Limited.
