National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance

Guided by the Every Doctor, Every Setting Framework, the goal of the National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance is to define an Action Plan and oversee a national approach to implementation of priority areas within the Framework across the medical profession and medical workplaces, and to advocate for systemic change to improve the health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students.

The purpose of the National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance is to work towards the following objectives:

  • Promote and advance the health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students, through leading collaborative efforts across organisations.
  • Facilitate accountability and responsibility among stakeholders and enhance their ability to implement the Framework.
  • Make recommendations and provide advice to Government on policy and initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students.
  • Collect and disseminate best practice initiatives in doctor and medical student health and wellbeing.
  • Develop a three-year Action Plan that clarifies actions and responsibilities for implementation and report annually on progress against the Framework.
  • Develop and implement a communication and engagement strategy for the Framework.

Membership & Stakeholders

Drs4Drs is conscious that there are many important stakeholders in progressing action on the Every Doctor, Every Setting Framework. Our goal is to ensure the right representation to the National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance, with a wider group of stakeholders engaged via consultation on the Action Plan, participation in Working Groups and periodic reporting.

Required Commitment

Members of the National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance commit to attending, engaging and providing input into scheduled meetings, sharing periodic updates, and completing pre-work and actions resulting from the meetings. As part of the National Leadership Alliance, an initial Steering Committee will be established to refine the Action Plan and will be comprised of interested Alliance members. Additionally, Working Groups incorporating wider stakeholders will be formed to the progress the finalised Action Plan.

Meetings

The National Doctors Health & Wellbeing Leadership Alliance meet on a quarterly basis.

The Alliance’s face-to-face meetings will be held at AMA Australia’s office in Canberra, where possible. Member organisations are expected to make travel arrangements for their representatives to attend face-to-face meetings.

The first meeting of the National Leadership Alliance was held in early 2023 and was a full day meeting held face-to-face in Canberra.
