Drs4Drs Tasmania invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified General Practitioners in Tasmania to undertake the role of Medical Director, Drs4Drs Tasmania. Please review the position description here.
Purpose of the Role
The Medical Director is responsible for providing clinical leadership, governance, and strategic direction for Drs4Drs Tasmania, ensuring the delivery of a confidential, safe, and high-quality support service for doctors, medical students, and their families. The role encompasses clinical involvement, leadership of the on-call workforce, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy initiatives to advance the wellbeing of doctors throughout Tasmania. The role is offered as an independent contractor arrangement for a two‑year term, remunerated at $20,000 per annum (GST exclusive).
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide clinical leadership for the 24/7 triage, advice, and referral service
- Serve as an on‑call doctor on the Drs4Drs Tasmania roster
- Recruit, coordinate, and manage on‑call doctors for team effectiveness
- Lead quarterly meetings with on‑call doctors and program leaders to ensure communication and clinical governance
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders such as AMA Tasmania, Department of Health, and University of Tasmania Medical School
- Promote Drs4Drs Tasmania through education, advocacy, events, and media
About You
Applicants will ideally demonstrate several of the following:
- A strong commitment to the health and wellbeing of medical practitioners and medical students
- Experience or capability in clinical leadership and oversight of health service delivery
- An understanding of doctors’ health service delivery, governance, and reporting requirements, including within AHPRA‑funded or similar frameworks
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of the Tasmanian health and professional environment relevant to doctors’ health, education, and advocacy
Eligibility
- Unrestricted medical registration under Tasmania’s Health Practitioner Regulation National Law
- Be able to operate as an independent contractor
- Hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance
- Meet applicable screening and suitability requirements relevant to the role
